At this point everyone has at least one (and probably a lot more) reusable bags. But there are many other ways to replace boring and unsustainable single-use items with reusable versions that have more style and the added benefit of keeping plastics out of our waste stream.

Let’s start with one of our most basic needs: water. One reusable water bottle—which can be personalized with everything from a favorite pet’s face to a motivational phrase—can save hundreds if not thousands of disposable plastic bottles from ending up in our landfills. (Did you know it takes over 1,000 years for each one to decompose?) And, of course, refilling from the tap is a lot less expensive than buying bottled water at the store. 

Prefer to sip from a straw but want to save our oceans and sea life from damaging microplastics? Many reusable straw options are out there as well, including some blinged-out stainless steel and glass versions that will take those icy beverages to a whole new level as the weather begins to warm.
